30 Years And Counting

One of the first things people ask me when they are considering implants is this: how long are they actually going to last?

A study that tracked 10,871 dental implants over 22 years found that implant posts typically last 25 to 30 years, with many functioning for a patient's entire lifetime.

Peer-reviewed research puts the 10-year survival rate between 95 and 98 percent.

Compare that to dentures and bridges, which need replacing every 5 to 8 years. The difference over a lifetime is significant.

But longevity depends on a few specific things:

Where the implant anchors. Traditional implants rely on the softer bone near the surface of the jaw, which shrinks over time after tooth loss. The deeper cortical bone that Corticobasal implants anchor into is denser, more stable, and far more resistant to shrinkage. That foundation is what long-term success is built on.

The quality of the materials. Not all implants are made the same. The titanium grade, the crown material, and the precision of the components all affect how the restoration holds up over decades. We use IHDE one-piece implants and G-CAM Graphene crowns specifically because of their long-term performance.

How you care for them. Implants cannot get cavities, but the gum tissue around them can become infected. Brushing, flossing, and keeping up with check-ups are the habits that protect your investment long term.

Lifestyle factors. Smoking significantly increases failure risk. Uncontrolled diabetes raises the failure hazard ratio considerably. These are conversations worth having honestly before you proceed.

When implants are placed correctly in stable bone with quality materials, it is built to last the rest of your life.

That is what we are giving you when you come to us.
