Implant Vs. Crown

Before your first consultation, there are two terms you will hear over and over: implant and crown. A lot of people think they are the same thing. They are not. But they work together, and understanding how makes everything else much clearer.

The implant is the root. A small titanium post placed into your jawbone. You never see it. It sits below the gum line, fuses with the bone, and creates the foundation that holds everything else in place.

The crown is the tooth. The part you actually see when you smile. Custom made to match the color and shape of your surrounding teeth. At Asenjo One Visit Dentistry we use G-CAM Graphene crowns, which are stronger, lighter, and longer lasting than traditional porcelain or zirconia.

Together they replace a complete tooth. The implant handles the foundation. The crown handles the appearance and function. Neither works without the other. This is why both the materials and the skill of the person placing them matter so much to your final result.

A standard crown over a natural tooth lasts 10 to 15 years before needing replacement. An implant with a quality crown, properly placed and cared for, can last a lifetime.

What we use at Asenjo One Visit Dentistry. For implants, we use IHDE one-piece implants based on Corticobasal technology. Because there is no joint between the implant and the abutment, there is less risk of complications over time. These implants anchor into the deeper, denser layers of the jawbone, which is what makes same-day permanent teeth consistently achievable here.

For crowns, we use G-CAM Graphene. It is lightweight, highly elastic, and biocompatible. It absorbs the forces of biting and chewing naturally, does not cause reactions in the gum tissue, and is designed to last for decades without losing its appearance.

The combination of the right implant system and the right crown material is what separates a result that lasts from one that needs fixing down the road.
